Quarterback Zach Zebrowski is headed to the Athens Crush of the Indoor Football League, according to Shady Sports Network. The Athens Crush must be tickled to death after adding a player whose college résumé gives fans plenty of reasons to pay attention. As Athens prepares for its first Indoor Football League season in 2027, Zebrowski arrives with two Harlon Hill trophies and a chance to turn his impressive college production into a professional breakthrough. His path to Athens began at Southern Illinois, where he spent four seasons from 2019 through 2022. Playing opportunities were limited with the Salukis. He redshirted in 2019 and eventually served as a backup, appearing in four games during his final season. A move to Central Missouri gave him the opportunity that changed his career. (siusalukis.com) Zebrowski immediately made the most of it. In 2023, he threw for 5,157 yards and 61 touchdowns, setting the NCAA Division II record for touchdown passes in a season. Central Missouri finished with an 11-2 record, and Zebrowski earned the Harlon Hill Trophy, awarded to the best player in Division II football. (ucmathletics.com, press.goelks.com) He followed that performance with another outstanding season in 2024, passing for 4,724 yards and 40 touchdowns while adding 599 rushing yards and 10 scores on the ground. The Mules finished with nine wins, including a Heritage Bowl victory over Texas Permian Basin. Zebrowski won the Harlon Hill again, becoming the fifth repeat winner in the award’s history. (ucmathletics.com) Across those two seasons, he totaled 9,881 passing yards and 101 touchdown passes. Those numbers earned him opportunities, including rookie minicamp invites with the Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings in 2025. Edmonton signed him again that December before releasing him in May 2026. His NFL opportunities, and his time in Edmonton, gave him experience inside a professional organization. Head coach Rob Keefe and offensive coordinator Les Moss will oversee the expansion team’s debut, with home games scheduled for Akins Ford Arena. (athenscrush.com, athenscrush.com) For Zebrowski, the question is how his passing production and ability to run will translate to the indoor game. For the Crush, his college record makes him an intriguing addition at the sport’s most important position. He has already shown what can happen when a new program gives him an opportunity. Athens will hope he makes the most of his latest professional chance, too.
