As the upcoming GTIFL season gets closer, some teams aim to work on buffing up their strengths from the previous season, while others look to rebuild with a different approach to the upcoming season.

One team that is approaching this upcoming season with a rebuild in mind is the Axolotls.

There is no sugarcoating the struggles that the Axolotls have faced recently. Those watching the previous GTIFL season watched as they fell 0-9, a winless season.

As of the date of this writing, the Axolotls have yet to win a game in their franchises history; In fact, the Axolotls' overall franchise record includes a single tie. This lone tie game was awarded to the entire league after a weather delay in the 24-25 season.

Despite this, the Axolotls are still a relatively young team and have time to turn it all around. With this in mind, they have made it very clear that they do not wish to be defined by their record, but rather by their efforts. "Whoever joins us for the upcoming season will have to understand and perform under the same philosophy" the team said in an interview.

Finally, when asked what their overall approach for the upcoming season is, they had this to say: "It’s about reinventing ourselves with the knowledge of what it’s needed to play in this league, but respecting the the values that make this team different. Heart and resiliency."

Axolotls fans will have to wait and see what the 2026-27 season brings, some hoping to see their first win, while some hope to see them bring home a trophy.
